Lesson Plans Sept. 21st – Sept. 25th

Monday: Review Order of Operations, Number Properties, and Scientific Notation; HOMEWORK- Complete the review and STUDY!!!! Get the review signed by a parent for 2 bonus points on the test!!!

Tuesday: Test over Real Numbers; HOMEWORK- Watch One-Step Equations video lesson and Complete notes sheet. 

Wednesday: Review over Writing and Solving One-Step Equations; HOMEWORK- Punchline worksheet and study for the One-Step Equation Quiz we will take tomorrow.

Thursday:  One-Step Equation Quiz;  Lesson- Writing Two-Step Equations;  HOMEWORK- Write equations for Punchline 3.11 but DO NOT Solve them yet!!! 

Friday:  Watch video on Using Algebra tiles to solve equations and place the example in your journal; Lesson- Solving Two-Step Equations with and without algebra tiles (Solve equations from Punchline 3.11 together emphasizing how to show work properly). HOMEWORK- Complete Punchline 3.11 if not finished in class.

Class Instruction Sept. 18, 2015

!st/2nd Period Power Math-Log on to Xtramath and do your lesson for the day.  When the whole class is done, you will go to computer lab 101.  You will work on Properties, Scientific Notation, or Order of Operations.  You may listen to your music but you have to be working.  If you are not working the sub has the right to take your music away.

4th/5th/6th/7th Period Pre-Algebra-Pull out your homework/classwork from the night before.  Make sure that you have it turned in.  If not it will be late.  Sit quietly and get ready for your quiz.  When you finish your quiz please pick up Punchline 1.5 and complete it.  What is not finished in class will be homework.  If you can not act correctly I will have the sub assign you another page as well.  You may listen to your music when you are working on your worksheet.   If you can not handle this the sub has the right to take your music away.  She will also have another worksheet that you will have to complete.

8th period Real World Math- You will continue to work with your partner on your project.  If you do not have the things that you need in class, you will write an two page essay on why you should bring your supplies to class.  This will be single lined and front and back.

Monday-Continue Scientific Notation.  Students will have homework tonight.

Tuesday-We will start properties.  Students will have a worksheet for homework.

Wednesday-We will continue with the Distributive Property.

Thursday-Order of Operations-Students will finish what they did not finish in class for homework.

Friday-Quiz over Properties and PEMDAS.  Students need their Chrome book charged and ready, because I will be out at a workshop this day.  I post all of my instructions online when I am out and give them plenty of notice.

Tuesday-Review for Real Number TEST. Please check go over your students review and sign it stating that you have reviewed it with them.

Wednesday-Real Number TEST

Thursday-We will start Scientific Notation. Students will see real life situations for them to relate. We will also notebook. Students will have homework on this night but it will be due Monday rather than Friday but encourage your student to come in for help it they are having any problems grasping this concept.

Friday-We will start Combining Integers. The students will place them on a number line and be able to work both ways. They will also model them with algebra tiles. Students will have homework on this night.

MondayThe Real Number System-We will begin to talk about the Real Number System. Your student will watch a video, then we will discuss what are the different types of numbers are. They will do an activity where they will place the numbers on a number line. After we have talked about them, I will given them a new number line that they will place numbers on. If they do not finish it in class, it will be for homework.

Tuesday-We will go over the number line that they did the day before and place this into their ISN. Then your student will learn the difference between rational and irrational numbers. This day we will start with rational numbers.

Wednesday-The students will learn more about irrational numbers. We will draw a rational/irrational diagram in our notebooks. We will make a human number line in class represent by a football field. Students will have a worksheet for homework this night.

Thursday-Review-Please go over the review and make sure that your student does not have any questions. Also take time to sign the top of the review and they will get extra credit on their test.

Friday-TEST

Monday-Welcome to class 🙂  We will be sending home a math newsletter this day.

Tuesday-Students will be starting to work in their groups and learning different ways to problem solve.  They will be working in their journals place 2-3 different ones in each day.

Wednesday/Thursday/Friday-Students will continue problem solving skills.
